dvan004 How to Change the Starting Web Page for Your Browser
When you start up your web browser to view web pages it presents a startup page. Often this is just the homepage for the company that provides you with your Internet access, the store that you bought your computer from or it could be the Microsoft homepage since your computer probably uses a Windows operating system.

However, you can change this startup page to be any web page on the World Wide Web or even just a web page stored on your own computer. The following shows you how to do this.

First you will have to find the address of the web page that you would like to become your new startup page. To do this, use your browser to find the page you want then make a note of its address in the address box at the top of the browser main window. It will be something like

       http://www4.vip.net/seniors/

(the http:// simply indicates that this web page is on the World Wide Web).

Now, assuming that you are using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, click on the item labelled Tools in the menu across the top of the screen and from the dropdown menu that appears, click on the item Internet Options. The Internet Options window will appear. Make sure that the General tab is selected.

The top area of the Internet Options window is labelled Home page. In this area is an input box labelled Address:. It will show the address of the page that is currently your startup page. (You may wish to copy it down somewhere in case you ever wish to return to using this page as your startup page again.)

Type the address of the new startup page in the space. Check it to make sure that it is correct then click on the OK button at the very bottom of the window. (Alternately, when you found your new startup page with the browser, you could have highlighted its address, used Ctrl-C (Copy) to copy it and then used Ctrl-V (Paste) to enter it into the address box in the Internet Options window.)

From now on, whenever you start up your browser or whenever you click on the Home button, the new startup window will appear.
